Keep yourself dry and toasty warm whilst spending time in the great outdoors!

The weather has suddenly got a lot colder, so here are a few of my top tips for keeping warm outdoors.

First up, let me introduce you to my total lifesavers - Le Chameau wellie boots. Somebody once said to me that they were not a luxury, they're a necessity when you live in the country and they were totally right.

However, they are neoprene and do have a naughty habit of sucking your socks off. The simple trick to keep your socks firmly on, is to tuck your jeans into your socks, then give them a good pull up.

For Christmas, I was given some Tom Lane alpaca socks which are totally amazing. Pop those on top of your existing socks for extra warmth and comfort.

Inside my wellie boots I like to put a sheepskin liner. My mother used to do this and it's brilliant. They really do keep the cold away from your feet and add that extra layer of cosiness.

One of my very top tips when it's really, really cold, is to bring your wellies in at night so you're not putting your feet into ice buckets.

When it's wet, I absolutely swear by and love a pair of waterproof trousers. Not only do they keep the dampness at bay they also protect whatever you are wearing underneath.

I tend to live in a polo neck when it's really cold. Over the top of one of these, I pop a great Musto fleece. I love Musto products. The fleece itself has got quite a long neck, so that keeps you extra warm.

My next layer is my trusty Musto jacket with a full hood. When it's really windy or really wet, it’s great to just be able to pull the hood out and be instantly protected.

Now for my essential Popski bobble hat and gloves. My gloves of choice are E Gloves. They're brilliant for wearing in the yard and cleaning out the chickens whilst keeping my hands warm and protected. There is nothing worst than gripping the ice cold handles of a wheelbarrow with bare hands in the cold!

Last but definitely not least, it’s time to pop my boots on and away we go!

Do you have any cold-weather items you can't live without? Do let me know in the comments below - I'd love to check them out!

Love,
