Keep your clothes looking as good as new! How to banish pilling and bobbles from your favourite knitwear...
De-bobbling knitwear was one of my very first blog posts & videos when I started Ask Charlie in 2018!
I have since been recommended a fantastic product by the lovely Jo at Jo’s Vintage Cashmere, and I felt I just had to share it with you all, it’s too good to keep to myself!
Woollens get bobbly. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it, you just need to ensure you are treating them with a good amount of TLC and caring for them properly to ensure longevity and to keep them looking good.
Now the first of the two pieces of equipment (both from Lakeland - you know I’m a huge fan!) for tackling bobbles is the same as the one from last year, as it is still just as wonderful. It’s the Bobble Buster, it’s battery-powered and great at removing piling and bobbles from a vast array of clothing.
You simply turn it on and brush it over to remove and gather the fluff in a small compartment.
However, if you have a jumper that is really thick and heavy, it can struggle.
Introducing the Gleener Fuzz Remover!
It has three different attachments for all manner of woollens so you’re covered for every type - gentle, medium and coarse. It is really easy to slide these on and off, and they enable you to adjust the strength of the apparatus.
There is a lint remover on the bottom so you can brush away any loose fluff, and as a lovely extra, they even include a sweet little bag to keep everything inside.
It is so handy to be able to adjust the strength of the bobble removal process, as you wouldn’t want to use anything too harsh on a fine knit for example. I use the medium coarse attachment for Simon’s Scottish cashmere jumpers, which are such great quality but he is quite hard on his jumpers!
They get a good once over with this de-bobbler after each clean and before they are put away. The fluff just sticks to the head of the remover, all you need to do is pull it off and you’re away!
It is nice not having to worry about batteries running out, it’s never going to not work!
I do hope you’ve found that helpful! It really is such a useful product!
Love,
