Before your first fire of the season, use this incredible household hack to clean the glass!

As we approach Autumn, it’s time to start thinking about your fires.

Now is the time to get your chimney swept and ensure that all flues are clear before you light your first fire of the season. It’s also a great time to get it spick and span!

Today I’m sharing probably one of my absolute favourite cleaning hacks with you, it’s absolutely astounding!

A huge thank you to my friend Henny at Nook & Cook for sharing this with me, I do so love it when people impart wisdom onto me too so I can share them with you all! Thank you Henny!

Let’s get stuck in.

This can be a messy job, so wear an apron, rubber gloves and protect the surrounding area if you can.

Grab yourself two cloths, one wet, one damp. I am, of course, using my trusty Spontex cloths.

Open the fire up and dip the damp cloth into the ash.

Using the ash, wipe the glass surface of your burner. You will likely not need to scrub, as the marks should come away relatively easily! Isn’t it incredible!

You may need to go to the sink a couple of times to rinse and dampen the cloth again.

Once the glass is clean, give it a buff with the dry cloth.

For any stubborn marks, a toothbrush works really well.

Hoover and clear up the surrounding area of any ash that may have escaped.

Voila!

Sparkling glass, with absolutely no need for products or chemicals.

Thank you so much to Henny at Nook & Cook for sharing, if you have any household hacks I would so love to hear them!

Love,
