Your very own quick & easy homemade Christmas napkins for your dining table!
I do love to lay a beautiful table for Christmas, it really adds to the magic of the occasion and I make sure that each piece is meaningful and well suited.
Since I’ve not been able to find any Christmas napkins that have taken my fancy this year, I decided to make the most of a gloomy and wet day outside to create my own from some beautiful material I’d previously discovered.
Start by cutting out squares of the fabric, and preparing your iron and board. Give them a good iron to get them nice and flat before sewing.
Fold over the edge and iron a crease all the way around. This will help ensure a nice straight and neat edge when you come to stitching.
Once that’s all completed, go around and repeat the action to ensure you have no nasty raw edges and maximum neatness is achieved! This is the line that you shall stitch. This can be a bit of a fiddle, please do by very mindful of your fingers!
Make your way over to your sewing machine!
Thread your machine with a thread that matches or compliments the colour of your napkins.
Chop the corners of each napkin. This action ensures you have a completely neat crease line and no bulks or bits poking out!
Get stitching!
When it comes to the corners, make sure you are ready for the stitching by preparing the area on approach. Keep your finger pressed down upon it, lift the foot to ensure the material is nice and flat and when you reach the corner, make sure the needle is down. Now lift the foot, twist the material, pop the foot back down and start on the next edge.
I would so love to see how you lay your tables on Christmas day! Tag me on social #AskCharlie so I can take a sneak peek!
