Spring Kitchen Garden Planting: Garlic, Shallots, Carrots & Potatoes (Back In The Garden!)
This week, I’m out in my kitchen garden. It’s not quite what we had at the old house, but it works perfectly for us—and that’s what matters! It was the most beautiful Sunday afternoon, and I thought it was a good time to get a few things in and take you along with me.
I’ve planted garlic and French banana shallots (because we actually use them all the time!), scattered carrot seeds into tubs, and tested out some new potato planter bags which I’ve never tried before—my friend Alison swears by them, so fingers crossed. I also treated myself to a new deep-root success kit for sweet peas and got some lovely seeds from Donna at Hollyhock Cottage.
We chat a bit about how I got into gardening (clue: it involved bum-shuffling around the flowerbeds with a broken leg), why it’s so good for the soul, and how satisfying it is to nip out and pick your own herbs or vegetables for supper.
If you're already a keen gardener, you'll get it—and if you're just starting out, hopefully, this gives you a bit of inspiration. It doesn’t have to be fancy or perfect—just grow what you love and what you’ll actually use!
Love, Charlie x
