Save your table linens! How to remove melted wax from fabric tablecloths & napkins...
Family meals around the table are one of those treasured times that you just cannot beat. But, when you’ve decided to lay the table with some of your favourite candles and then one of the children decide to blow them out and splatter wax all over your table linen, it’s not ideal!
This is a little trick of mine to get candle wax out of table linens. It’s super easy and you should already have most of the things you need at home!
You will need:
Kitchen roll
Baking paper
Hot iron
Ironing board
Start by making sure your wax-covered linen is laying on the ironing board with the wax on the top. Put three sheets of kitchen roll together for maximum absorbency. Place this over the area.
Next up, lay a sheet of baking paper on top of the kitchen roll. Run your hot iron over the top of this linen, kitchen paper and baking sheet sandwich for a few seconds so the wax melts and is absorbed into the kitchen paper!
I would suggest repeating this process twice over with fresh kitchen roll each time, to ensure you get the maximum amount of wax out of the fabric.
Then give the linen a wash as normal! You could use some Vanish or grease treatment if needed, just to get any remaining marks out.
