Keeping a clean and welcoming home - here are my top tips for cleaning from top to bottom!
Here are my top tips for keeping a clean home, if you take the time to do this little and often you'll find you'll stay on top of it all!
The most important thing to do is to ensure that you first tidy the room or area that you shall be tackling.
Start from the very top of the room so that any of the dust hiding up there can make it's way down ready to be removed from surfaces with a cloth or hoovered up.
My cleaning weapons of choice
Once you've tackled the tops and walls with your ostrich feather or microfibre dusters, whip out a hairdryer to get right into the nooks and crannies of any faux flower arrangements you may have, or ornaments.
This is a fantastic way to get right into those cracks and dislodge all the dust, again moving it downwards towards the next area we're going to tackle!
Pull out your hoover and go into every corner you can, taking your time to ensure you're sucking up all of the dust and dirt than can sometimes be forgotten hiding in those corners.
Pull out a Spontex cloth or similar, dampen it down slightly and go over your skirting boards. These collect a scary amount of dust! So it's great to be thorough here.
Now it's time for the surfaces. I like to use Method cleaning products as they're better for the environment, paired with my trusty Spontex cloths.
Simply remove all items from the surface you are about to clean, and place them gently down on the floor so they have no chance of falling from a height (don't tread on them!)
Give surfaces a light spritz and give it all some elbow grease!
Now you're going to move onto the wooden pieces of your home. We have quite a lot of antique pieces so I absolutely steer clear of any polish that contains silicone, as these are really no good for the longevity of your wood. Instead, I use Wood Silk polish and simply go over the wood with a microfibre cloth.
Lastly for any glass sections of these wood furniture pieces, simply grab your cloth from earlier and your trusty Method spray, and wipe over.
If you take just a little time to keep up with cleaning your home in sections and often, you really can stay on top of it all and ensure a home to be proud of!
