Get that shower screen gleaming! My top tips and secret weapon for a sparkling shower screen...

Today we're heading to the bathroom to talk about all things shower screens!

I gratefully received a few requests recently on how best to tackle shower screen cleaning. I know they can be quite a pain to keep gleaming, so I'm a firm believer that daily maintenance is so important to stop the job from being such a chore!

Once a week I like to give it a good clean, then throughout the week I simply give it a little spray and wipe to maintain the shine.

My favourite products and utensils:

Oxo Squeegee

Lakeland Gloves

Minky Sponge

Damp Spontex Cloth

Dry Spontex Cloth

Spontex Scouring Sponge

White Spontex Cloth

Fairy Liquid

Method Daily Shower

Method Bathroom Cleaner

Method Glass Cleaner

The Pink Stuff

Toothbrush

Here are the steps I take to make it sparkle!

If your screen is particularly bad:

Wet your Spontex scouring sponge

Pop a blob of Fairy Liquid onto the scouring side of the sponge and give both sides of the glass a good clean. It really will come up gleaming!

Rinse the suds off using the shower head inside and a clean wet sponge on the outside.

Whilst you’re rinsing, use the time to check it all over to see if there is anywhere else that needs some extra attention.

Get a clean and damp Spontex cloth and give the whole thing a good wipe over on the outside.

Use your squegee to remove the excess water from the inside - you can either get into the shower for this step or pop a towel on the floor to catch the water.

If you’ve spotted any areas of limescale build-up during your wipe over:

Grab your Pink Stuff and a toothbrush.

Dampen the top of the Pink Stuff and scoop a little up with your toothbrush.

Tackle along the edges where the metal meets the glass, this is often where limescale and mildew can build up. I only really need to do this step once a month, but it could be needed more often if you have particularly hard water.

Give this all a rinse.

If your screen isn’t too bad:

Use the Method Bathroom Cleaner to give it a good once over with the less abrasive Minky sponge.

To up the shine factor:

Use a little Method Glass Cleaner and buff inside and out with a dry Spontex cloth as the last step after cleaning.

Remember during the week to use the Method Daily Shower and your squeegee so it doesn’t become such a big job and the watermarks won’t become so ingrained!
