From flat to fabulous! My top tips for a voluminous blow-dry for fine hair...

For today’s blog post I thought I'd show you how I do my hair! I’m afraid I was not blessed with good hair genes at all. My hair is quite fine and completely poker straight.

If I don’t blow dry it, it looks like I’ve ironed my hair to my head and is impossible to work with. I don’t even feel like I can pop it into a ponytail and look even vaguely nice! So, here are a few things I have learned to give my hair a bit of body and texture.

First up, I use the L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Air Flat Hair Shampoo and Conditioner. With the conditioner, I only ever work it through the very ends of my hair to stop the product from having any chance of weighing my hair down any further.

I then use Wella Professionals EIMI Perfect Setting Spray, which I find really, really good. I’ve used every mousse and product under the sun to try and get some sort of volume and hold into my hair and haven’t come across anything that does it quite like this one!

Now I like to section my hair and clip it up so I can tackle one area at a time with my Nicky Clarke styler. This both dries and styles your hair simultaneously and I have found it to be a total life-saver. It’s so easy, and much kinder on the arms than using a brush and hairdryer!

I wrap the hair around the styler in the sections, give it a good blast with both the hot and cold air and then that section is done!

You do find that once you’ve gotten the hang of it you can actually do your whole head without even needing to look in the mirror! It really only needs one hand too, so you can use the time you have to reply to emails and other jobs!

Once you reach your crown, pay particular attention to getting right down to the root to give as much lift as possible. And then we’re done!

If I’m off out for the evening I’ll pop some hairspray in straight after styling, and if we’re heading to a party and I want my hair to be as voluminous as it can possibly get, I’ll use additional Pro Blow rollers and leave them in for 10-15 minutes depending on how much time I have, doing my make-up as I wait! This really does lengthen the duration of the volume.

They are such fantastic rollers, with an optional handle that they clip into so you can utilise a conventional hairdryer to dry and style, then pop the rollers off of to cool and set! They do still work perfectly as standard rollers applied by hand though.

So there we are! Those are my top tips on how to get some volume into poker straight, flat hair. I hope you've enjoyed!

Love,
