A very different Easter for many... some of the wonderful goings-on this weekend, a crafty activity & a very chocolatey treat that you can enjoy from your home!

This is going to be a very different kind of Easter for many.

I think to make it through this strange time as comfortably as we can we need to embrace a little change and the differences we are faced with - there are lots of exciting things being offered so why not take advantage of them!

There are some fantastic virtual options of great days out! We are so lucky to live in this digital age where everything is more accessible to us than ever.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is offering full-length performances on his Youtube, the National Theatre are showcasing some of their wonderful productions and you can virtually walk around some of the worlds best museums, zoos and theme parks!

Here’s a round-up of some of my favourites:

ON STAGE

The Shows Must Go On - Andrew Lloyd Webber

Full-length performances every Friday 7 pm BST for 48 hours

National Theatre Line - The National Theatre

Free full-length plays - Every Thursday

RELIGIOUS SERVICES

There are so many churches putting their services online especially during this period, so it may be worth checking if your local church is doing the same.

Chichester Cathedral is within our local city and a wonderful cathedral - Sigh went to prep school right next door so has so many great memories of it and we’ve both spent a lot of time there.

Chichester Cathedral - Live Service

All services for Holy Week 2020, delivered by The Bishop of Chichester and Chichester Cathedral, will be live-streamed from their webpage.

York Minster - Digital Worship

Worship and prayers for Holy Week and Easter at York Minster will be entirely digital for the first time this year – a landmark in the Minster’s 800 year history.

Natural History Museum - Interactive Online Guide

British Museum - Virtual Tour

The Louvre - Virtual Tour

CRAFTING

Gus has very kindly created a printable sheet (Click here to download!) for you all to print out and play games of pairs!

  • Print 2 of the sheets out

  • Decorate your eggs however you wish - try to create similar pairs of eggs!

  • Cut out turn over and try to find the matching pairs!

RECIPE

Coco and I have had some real fun this week perfecting this recipe as you can imagine! The secret weapon is the melted Mars bar - if you can get hold of one I really recommend you use it!

Easter Chocolate Nests Recipe:

Makes 20 cupcakes or one large one cut up into squares.

Ingredients:

150g chocolate - we used one medium size Mars bar and the rest Bourneville

50g butter

3 tablespoons of golden syrup

125g Rice Krispies or cornflakes

Mini eggs for decorating

Method:

Melt the butter, golden syrup, and chocolate in a large bowl, sitting over a saucepan with a little water (the water mustn’t touch the bottom of the bowl) put the saucepan on over a medium heat until the chocolate has melted, this is a bain-marie.

Take off the heat and stir in the rice krispies.

Layout 20 cupcake cases and spoon the chocolate covered krispies into the cases. Place a mini egg on the top or line a 20cm x 20cm cake tin with baking paper and pour in the mixture.

Spread out evenly and push down with a spatula.

Place in the fridge and chill for an hour and then cut up in to squares.

Whatever you end up doing this weekend, I hope you manage to have fun and enjoy it with your loved ones!

Happy Easter to you all,

Love,
