Washing & Drying Bed Linen So There's No Need To Iron!

I've had lots of lovely messages about my tips on ironing a fitted sheet. So I thought I would share with you how I wash the sheets and hang them out. I am quite particular about how I do it, but it saves hours!

So I'm going to share this little secret with you. Now I know you may think it sounds ridiculous, but folding the washing as you strip the beds and placing them neatly into the laundry basket saves a lot of creases! Trust me!

It really, really does work.

As you strip the beds, note whether the sheets are particularly dirty or if there are any marks that may need a little extra care before they head to the washing machine.

If so, I either use Vanish spray before go into the washing machine or I just put a scoop of Vanish in with the wash.

As shown in my fitted sheet posts, gather the corners and fold neatly into your basket. This is how all your sheets will be placed into the machine.

Now make your way to the machine!

Into the wash!

I like to use a scoop of Fairy non-bio and a cap full of Comfort in my white washes. I keep all of the B&B bed linen crisp, plain white so I know what linen belongs where!

Pop your folded washing into the machine and close the door.

Once your wash is finished, give the drum a spin to check there’s nothing hiding in there. Then hang them up as follows...

I have a Sheila Maid (link to shop here!) for hanging my sheets and I am a massive fan! They can be made to your own measurements and are on a pulley system. You can send the washing up towards the ceiling and get it out of the way! They can be used in all sorts of places to utilise warm rooms, I actually have one above the Aga too!

Otherwise, one of these driers from John Lewis work fabulously.

As you pop the washing onto the drier, give it a good stretch and tug as you go to ensure it is crease free from the get-go. This means even as it dries, any creases are straightened right out.

Once dry, iron if needed - but you may not even need to!

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Love,
