Pulling up and storing your dahlias ready for next year...

Dahlias were super fashionable during the 80s and 90s, and like all good trends, they've stepped back into the spotlight again.

I love dahlias, they're just really easy and also produce the most beautiful flowers throughout the summer. They are great for flower arranging, fantastic for having in the house and as long as you keep picking them, they just keep flowering and flowering!

Pulling up and putting the tubers away to store until next year ensures you can enjoy your dahlias annually - it also feels so satisfying to see them bloom year in year out after you've nurtured them so well!

You will need:

Gardening gloves

Kneeler

Secateurs

Pull out all Dahlias with their tubers, cut off the dead plants leaving an approx. 1-2cm stalk, brush off excess soil and divide if necessary. I like to divide mine by colour so I know what to plant where next year.

Store in a cardboard box in a cool dry place e.g garage.

My dahlias were from the wonderful Burford Garden Centre in the heart of the Cotswolds. They are named Eveline, Jowey Marilyn, Zorro and Arthur Hambley.

The Rose is from David Austin and is “Maid of Kent” climbing Rose.

Love, Charlie x
