How to host a drinks party

Things to think about, is it a relaxed drinks party or a formal drinks party?

Either send an email or WhatsApp for an informal drinks party.

For a more formal drinks party send an ‘At Home” card in the post.

Timings for a drinks party are typically 6-6.30 pm until approximately 8 pm.

Make a list of who you are inviting, and tick if they are attending so you know the numbers.

Make a list of the food you will be serving, for a formal drinks party I suggest 6 different types of canapes and 3-5 canapes per guest. And ensure they are bite size!

Plan what drinks you are going to serve. Make sure they are chilled if necessary, that you have enough glasses and don’t forget the ice!

Make sure the house is tidy and clean and put some fresh flowers out.

Make sure you allow extra time to be ready on time at least 30-45 mins before your guests are due.

I love Rahm's mini Croustades and sweet & savoury mini pastry cases.

Remember the finishing touches – little touches make a big difference.

Be a good hostess, look after your guests and make sure people aren’t on their own, and mingling.
