How I Embrace Dyslexia: My Journey and Superpower (A Personal Story)

This week I delve into a topic that's close to my heart: dyslexia. Dyslexia has been a significant part of my life since I was young, and it's not been an easy journey. From struggling in school to facing challenges in my professional life, dyslexia has shaped my experiences throughout.

Growing up, I often felt inadequate and misunderstood, especially compared to my academically gifted brother. However as I've matured, I've come to view dyslexia as a superpower rather than a hindrance. It's taught me resilience, determination, and the importance of embracing my unique way of thinking.

I've learned to navigate the challenges by finding alternative solutions and seeking support when needed. Collaborating with my invaluable assistant Tish who transforms many of my spoken words into written text, has been crucial in managing my dyslexia while running Ask Charlie.

Through this journey, I've realised the importance of reframing perceived weaknesses into strengths and not letting setbacks define me. Dyslexia has shaped who I am today, and I'm proud of the progress I've made.

I hope that by sharing my story, I can offer encouragement to others facing similar struggles and a reminder to treat people with a kind and gracious heart. Remember, imperfection is part of being human, and embracing differences enriches our lives!
