Dealing with grief

Since talking about the anniversary of Mum’s death at the beginning of November, I’ve had quite a few people get in touch to ask if I would share my journey with the grief, how I’ve coped and the steps I’ve taken.

So, this week I sat down to give a little background on my wonderful yet complex Mum. From our last day together taking a trip down memory lane, to how I navigated through the absolute shock of her death and the following grief.

We all grieve in different ways, and I think it’s so important to talk about your feelings, reach out to your loved ones for support and get expert help if you need it.

I’ve worked with Katherine Finn, the most wonderful hypnotherapist, since before Mum died, so do please contact her if you’re in need of advice.

Two sources of support I’ve found incredibly comforting are from Julia Samuels MBE, a grief psychotherapist with over twenty-five years experience of working with the bereaved.

In her book ‘This Too Shall Pass’, Julia shows how we can learn to adapt and thrive during our most difficult and transformative experiences. Illuminated by the latest social and psychological research, this book deals with the hard times in family, love, work, health and identity.

Through her app ‘Grief Works’ you can hear stories from those who have experienced great love and loss – and survived. It’s a fantastic app that covers all areas of coping - with focuses on trigger days, memory days, meditation and so many different aspects for you to follow along with to make the journey that little bit more comfortable.

Julia has kindly offered followers of Ask Charlie 10% off app membership, so do click the button below to check that out.
