A New Year Brings New Opportunities

Welcome back to Ask Charlie and a positive, exciting and optimistic beginning of 2022!

We had a quiet New Year after feeling a bit under the weather - but we so enjoyed the quiet.

I never set New Year's resolutions - instead I set goals and have a plan. It’s so important to have something positive to work towards or look forward to - so I always take time at the beginning of the year to focus on what do I want to do or achieve. Whether it’s re-doing an area in the garden, working towards a project for work or tackling an area at home - I believe it’s important to something positive to focus on!

With my goals in mind, this week I’ve felt upbeat and raring to go!

Penny’s puppies left this week - and I am so happy to share that we are keeping Lady Florence! We now have 6 dogs - I know that’s bonkers. However, it’s just worked out that way and I couldn’t be more thrilled. We shan’t be breeding from Penny again after her emergency caesarean and I really wanted to keep the line going - if all goes well, but what will be will be.

She is such a welcome burst of energy in the house, full of beans and certainly keeping me on my toes!

I also have some really exciting news for you!

I have a new man in my life….

He’s named Colin. He’s tall, fair and particularly handsome.

Meet Colin!

Archie has decided he doesn’t want to ride anymore. He is thoroughly interested in so many different things - so I think good for him! I don’t want to push him into anything - he’s a good enough rider to pick it up whenever if he ever got the opportunity, so it’s totally fine. I kept the pony that I had for him and me, and we’ve been riding her and enjoying her and having a wonderful time.

However, Coco is beginning to really explore and practice her passion for sidesaddle riding. It’s been such a joy to be there with her, and it’s made me realise how much I miss riding sidesaddle. I get so much pleasure from riding with her and the fact that she shares my passion. To ride alongside her during this time in her life would be so special, so after agonising over the decision for a long time, we’ve finally gone for it!

We’re trying the sidesaddle on Colin next week to see how he goes. He is a perfect gentleman, an enormous ex Metropolitan Police horse and comes from friends of ours so I’m feeling optimistic and very, very excited!

It’s so difficult buying a horse, particularly for me having had so many accidents. But he is really, really lovely and I cannot wait for our future together as a family. Hopefully, we’re going to have lots of fun together for many years to come!

It’s great to be back with you all, I hope you’re looking forward to lots of exciting content to come over the next few months!

Thank you so much for joining me, and I’ll see you again next week!

Love, Charlie x
